Total pass percentage of Cusat engineering colleges is 39.8


Three engineering colleges could not even touch the 20 per cent mark

KOCHI: Engineering colleges affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology repeated the poor performance in the final year B.Tech examination, with the total pass percentage touching the 39.80 mark this year.
Out of the 4,689 students who appeared for the examination representing 21 affiliated colleges, only 1,866 passed the final semester. The number of students who won first class with distinction was only 537 while 1,328 students won first class marks.
Three engineering colleges could not even touch the 20 percentage mark in the examination. Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology at Thiruvananthapuram finished last with 16.59 percentage.
Only 34 out of the 205 final year students in the college passed the examination.
M.G. College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram and Co-operative Institute of Technolgoy, Vadakara, won 19.02 and 19.67 pass percentage respectively.
Other colleges that found place in the list below the 50 percentage mark include School of Engineering, Thrikkakara (48.07); Cochin University College of Engineering, Pulinkunnu (31.60); College of Engineering, Adoor (39.53); College of Engineering, Kallooppara (47.98); College of Engineering, Poonjar (43.75); College of Engineering, Kidangoor (38.58); College of Engineering, Perumon (47.19); College of Engineering, Karunagappally (36.73); College of Engineering, Trikaripur (49.49); College of Engineering, Thalassery (29.69); College of Engineering, Munnar (35.98); Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, Arakunnam (43.48); TKM Institute of Technology, Kollam (25.16); College of Engineering, Attingal (38.33); College of Engineering, Cherthala (48.84), and College of Engineering, Kottarakkara (28.10).
 Model college first
Model Engineering College at Thrikkakara came first in the list by registering a total pass percentage of 67.50. College of Engineering, Chengannur, followed with a total pass percentage of 62.37.
In the branch-wise result, the total pass percentage for Computer Science and Engineering (for all the affiliated colleges) was 39.07. For Electronics and Communication Engineering, the pass percentage was 38.30.
The pass percentage for Electrical and Electronics Engineering was 28.21 while the pass percentage for Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was only 17.
For Information Technology, the total pass percentage was 39.69.
The performance in the Mechanical Engineering branch was also poor (21.98 percentage).
